One of my favorite parts of quilting is when the community comes together to make group quilts! This pattern was drafted primarily to offer modern quilters an opportunity sew & contribute a block for a group quilt entry for QuiltCon 2027. You may use the block for your own quilt, but if you choose to make a block to send me, please follow the guidelines below so that the blocks, when combined, create a cohesive quilt! I will complete & enter the quilt. Please use the form here when you mail me your finished block to share details for the submission. (My PO Box information is available on the submission form, too.) The deadline to receive your blocks is August 31, 2026. A maximum of 100 blocks will be accepted. I don’t know what participation levels will look like, but I’ll plan to use the first 100 blocks that meet the guidelines below. Thank you for making a block for our QuiltCon group quilt entry! Cheers!
Guidelines:
Solid fabrics only. PLEASE - NO PRINTS. Use quilting cottons.
Use a medium value red or medium value pink fabric for the center square.
Use warm whites and creams for the background (labeled as BG in the pattern). As an example, fabrics in the green house sample are Kona Snow, Ivory, and Parchment. Please avoid shades of grey and bright white backgrounds.
Use the darkest value fabrics for the roof (labeled as R in the pattern). The hue does not have to be charcoal or black (like the green sample block), but please make these fabrics the darkest part of the block. The darkest value in each hue family can be used for the roof. Two different roof fabrics are used in Figure 1.
The house color selection is totally your choice! This quilt is going to be colorful! I used four different shades of green to showcase the piecing in the block. There are optional color code markings on the pattern to give suggestions / guidance, but these color placements are not mandatory.
Please press after each seam for a crisp, flat quilt block. Do not use any scented starches or sprays.
Sew on all 34 stitching lines, do not combine any seams. Blocks must measure 8 x 8 inches to be accepted.
The pattern is for personal use only. Do not copy, distribute, or sell the pattern to others without written consent from pattern designer.
The link to download PDF will be available to via email after you complete the purchase. This link will be active for only 24 hours - please download timely! When you receive the download link, it will download a .zip folder that has two files included. The two files are the written pattern instructions and the print at home templates. For best results, download the file to a computer (versus an iPad / tablet or mobile device.) Using a .zip file is very common and current technology does not require an additional program or software to unzip this folder. Click here for a guide that shows me opening this file. There are no returns / refunds for the digital pattern downloads or printed patterns. If you have trouble downloading the pattern, please contact me!
